Nicole Sott was hired as the first Head Field Hockey Coach in the history of D'Youville University in May of 2023.

D'Youville University announced the addition of Field Hockey as its' 19th varsity sport back in January and it will compete in its inaugural season beginning in the Fall of 2024.

Sott comes to Porter Avenue from NCAA Division III Cedar Crest College (Pa.), where she served as the head coach for the past two seasons, compiling an overall record of 17-18 including two Colonial States Athletic Conference Tournament Appearances (CSAC).

The 2021 squad was the first in school history to reach the CSAC Championship round while the 2022 team was the first to be voted Preseason #1 in the CSAC Coaches Poll.

12 Falcons were named to All-CSAC teams over Coach Sott's two seasons, including six first-team selections and one Co-Player of the Year. Her teams also succeeded in the classroom as 11 student-athletes earned National Field Hockey Coaches Association (NFHCA) all-academic squad honors while her 2021 team was recognized with a NFHCA National Academic Team Award.

A tireless recruiter, Coach Sott improved the roster size from 12 in her first season to 24 leading up to the 2023 campaign.

Prior to Cedar Crest, she was an assistant coach at Frostburg State University (2019-2021) for two seasons, helping the program transition from Division III to Division II. Before that, Sott was an assistant for one season at her alma mater King's College (2017-2018), a Division III institution in Wilkes-Barre, Pa.

A three-year member of the King's College field hockey team, Sott transferred in after playing one season at Division I St. Francis University (Pa.). A two-time MAC Freedom all-conference selection, she also served as a two-year captain and was a member of the 2016 Monarchs squad that won the MAC Freedom Conference Tournament Championship to earn the program's first NCAA berth since 2007.

Sott graduated from King's College in 2017 with a bachelor's in elementary and special education before earning her master's in sport management from Frostburg State University in 2020.
